'H' is for Home Improvements

One would think I would have used the 'H' for Halloween. It would have been perfect timing, but sadly, we did not have a Halloween. (And I already have a post for Halloween..) Dearest Annie was at her father's house. So.. We decided to replace our bathtub instead...

This was an absolute must in this house, I know I've said that about a lot of the remodeling we have done, but this one was pretty close to being a safety hazard. Annie is getting too big for the sink and her little blue baby tub, and there was no way I was putting her in the former bathtub. Yuk. I didn't even want to shower in the thing! Would you?

I think it is the most disgusting thing that came with the house. Why they never replaced this century old tub is beyond me. Well, it may not be that old, our bathroom looks like it was added on in the 70's or so. But that's still no excuse.

Here is the wood that was above the shower. I actually liked it when we first moved in, now I am glad that it's in a pile one step away from history. (Yes I know I have too many shampoos.. I like variety :])

No more wood! Surprisingly, it looks so much better than I had expected.. No turning back now!

The tub. After many visits to Home Depot, Menards, Lowes, and Fleet farm, we finally found one. Rather, we finally found a solution for getting the one we really wanted. This tub was the deepest one we could find and there was no way we could find a shower wall to fit in the area we had. I don't know how they did it before with that slant, but hey, it was the 70's so you never know. So, we decided to go with a tile wall instead of the  fiberglass ones. It looks so much nicer anyway, and (was supposed to) cost about the same. (Btw, it's not a blue tub, it's just the sticky covering)

This was us laying the selected tile on the ground at Home Depot to see what it would look like. The big white tiles on the bottom are supposed to represent the bathtub :)

No more tub or wood, progress!

Concrete board. It looks so much nicer already.

And the tiling begins! I told Henry I feel bad that I can't do anything to help, there is just no room!

Ta-Daa! I love it!

New light too

Hehehe, trying out the new tubby

Annie loves it too

A lot..

She needed to explore
