My prayer is that Annie will walk this summer. I don't want to sound like I'm rushing her, but she is starting to improve and it gets me excited. She can now push herself to a standing position from my lap against the couch.
Therapy has been going well. Miss Lisa comes every week, either Monday or Tuesday. She's super nice. We are talking about bringing an OT (Occupational Therapist) in to help with Annie's strength. Her fine motor skills are fine, it's just the muscles. Lisa has been questioning whether or not it's simply hypotonia or something more serious, and wants me to get genetic testing done along with getting her muscles checked out further. She says the degree of 'laxity' in Annie is beyond normal for hypotonia. Hmmmph. We will see.
We ordered her braces finally! We picked out pink with hearts. So glad we were able to customize them. The specialist will be back on the 28th for a fitting. I know it's not usually something parents get excited about, but at this point anything that will potentially help her is exciting. So, yay for braces!
And for anyone who is questioning why she needs braces, this is why:
Whenever we have her in a standing position, she bends her feet up like this, which will obviously make it really difficult to learn to walk. The braces will help her to keep them straight and give more support.
No matter what happens with her, and even if she never walks, I am still extremely proud of her. Even though she's lacking physical skills, she is still the smartest and most cheerful little girl I know :)
